Celebrating five years of the destruction of Iraq

Nevermind that WMDs were not found in Iraq, nor was there any hint they were moved from Iraq, or that there was no connection between al-Qaida and Saddam Hussein. Bush continues to justify his invasion of a defenseless population that has been ravaged with war from its own president, now dead, as well as from a foreign one, and perhaps his successor. Many of the promises that came with this invasion have yet to be fulfilled (see also here) which should come as no surprise since this war was never for the "liberation" of Iraq, but rather for it's subjugation by a Western power.

The future doesn't look very promising for the Iraqi people, nor for their American counterparts who seem dull and tired of the prospects of the 'endless' war in Iraq. There's no reason to celebrate the last five years and the future doesn't hold much reason for hope. As long as American foreign policy is driven by interest groups with the most money, more of the same death and destruction will be reaped on innocent populations that are at odds with interest groups' agendas.
