Chic, beautiful and already over-exposed

Huma Abedin, an administrative aide to Hillary Clinton and her campaign has drawn some attention and this observer wonders why does she choose to do so?

Hillary Clinton, the favorite target these days of those suffering from Clinton Derangement Syndrome, has already taken pot shots from right wingnuts and the addition of Huma and their apparent closeness has given the nut jobs another dimension to the standard attack they employ with anything even remotely resembling Islam and Muslims. Which leads to this question of why would Abedin directly put herself or indirectly other members of her faith through what she knows is coming!? What is her motivation?

Today's politics for the ordinary has become a game of finding and revealing skeletons and for a muslim involved in this game it becomes nastier and more divisive on the American landscape with each new entrant into the game. Just ask Keith Ellison a Muslim congressman who was "lynched" in the media and by his colleagues in the House because of his faith. An American public wary of strange sounding names after 911 have taken a liking to beating up on Muslims; it's the thing to do and no one is shy doing so, so what should Huma expect other than a very public thrashing? A very public and nasty thrashing at that.

Huma is just one of many Muslims who want to play power politics; influencing American politics through their support of candidates who will do anything to win votes that are quickly forgotten when money interests come first and foremost above principle. Instead of working at the grass roots level to encourage people to build lasting relationships with officials built on trust and mutual interests, power politics involves hitching one's self to a meteoric and very popular official it's felt are sure to win the party's nomination and eventual election, without any regard for past histories and associations. Perhaps Huma at 32 is too young to remember where Hillary was almost sixteen years ago or more importantly to her, Huma's future, where Sami al-Arian was eight years ago and where he is now. Remember him? The Palestinian American who sought to hitch himself to Bush's "compassionate conservatism" and found himself in jail, with the possibility of losing his citizenship and deported because Bush's associates, the neocons, weren't quite ready to accept Arian as an equal in courting Bush's affections, attention, loyalty or help.

The neocons have sought to disrupt Middle Eastern societies for some time, and Bush has made it possible for them to accomplish more than they perhaps ever thought they could. There are at present a few frontiers yet conquered and Pakistan is one of them. With headlines like these
NUCLEAR WAR-FEAR
Al-Qaida targets Pakistan nukes
Bin Laden eyes his best shot at seizing power, grabbing weapons, says West Point publication

it would be very easy for neocons and their MSM buddies to spin Huma into their web of deceit and get rid of her and Hillary and resume their agenda for the Middle East. Their plans are long ranged and independent of who's in power but rather the circumstances of the time. One must wonder whether Huma is presenting them with just such an opportunity.
